Bryan Royds, Director

Bryan Royds

“What I love most about my work is the opportunity to inspire positive change for individuals and teams, and then see the results for organisational success. Very satisfying!”

Bryan has qualifications in psychology, adult education and organisation development, and 25 years experience in designing and delivering training in this area. He worked as a psychotherapist and career counsellor, a tertiary lecturer, and manager of a PTE before specialising in management and leadership development. As a result, Bryan is a highly experienced coach, facilitator and trainer with in-depth knowledge of this field and the New Zealand context.

Indeed, he has coached over 2000 individuals to solve problems and perform at their best, and he has designed, delivered and managed hundreds of training programmes on a wide range of people-performance topics. These range from self mastery (e.g. time management, problem-solving, creativity, resilience) to interpersonal skills (e.g. influence, teamwork, coaching, negotiation, presentation) to advanced leadership development (e.g. strategic thinking, decision-making, performance management, change leadership).

Bryan’s experience has included short on-the-job trainings, longer certificate, diploma and degree courses, and multi-year organisation-based management and leadership development programmes. He is also familiar with (and particularly enjoys) leading intensive residential courses. He has worked with over 100 private and public sector organisations around New Zealand (details and referees available upon request).

Bryan is an active member of the New Zealand Association of Training and Development, currently facilitating the Senior Practitioners Group and for some years managing their mentoring programme. He is convener of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand Coaching and Mentoring Special Interest Group, and an accredited coach for the State Services Commission Leadership Development Centre.

He is accredited in a number of diagnostic instruments including MBTI, Lominger Leadership Architect, the Team Management Index (TMI), the TM360, QO2 Risk Profiling, Star Performing Teams, Linking Skills Index, Leadership Behaviours Profile, and Values at Work analysis. He is also a Master Practitioner and Certifying Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming, and knowledgeable about Appreciative Inquiry, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology and other solution-focussed and strength-based methodologies for accelerated development. Most important to Bryan is that he is known for his accessible, friendly manner, and his ability to inspire individual and team transformation with clarity and humour.
