Bryan Royds

Bryan is a Director at Achieve Group. He has qualifications in psychology, adult education and organisation development, and over 30 years experience in developing people. He worked as a psychotherapist and career counsellor, a tertiary lecturer, and manager of an international people-skills training company before specialising in management and leadership development. As a result, Bryan is a highly experienced coach, facilitator and trainer with in-depth knowledge of talent management and organisation development.

Indeed, Bryan has coached thousands of leaders to solve problems and perform at their best, and has designed and delivered hundreds of development programmes on a wide range of people-performance topics. These range from self mastery (e.g. wellbeing, resilience, problem-solving, creativity) to interpersonal skills (e.g. coaching, influence, negotiation, presentations, meeting facilitation) to transformational leadership (e.g. strategic thinking, culture shaping, change management, stakeholder engagement).

Bryan's experience has included delivering short on-the-job training workshops, longer diploma and degree courses, and multi-year management and leadership development programmes with innovative blended learning approaches. Working with over 300 private and public sector organisations around New Zealand, he has contributed to many large organisational change projects around talent, engagement, performance management and culture change.

Bryan is an active member of The Human Resources Institute of New Zealand, where he mentors managers, and convenes the SIG on Leadership and People Capability. For some years he managed the New Zealand Association of Training and Development mentoring programme and led the Senior Practitioners Group there. He is on the coaching panels of several large organisations and the All-of-Government Business Consultancy supplier panel.

He is qualified in numerous assessment instruments from Gallup, Lominger, Hogan, MBTI, Human Synergistics, the Team Management Profile (TMP/TMI), TM360, QO2 Risk Profiling, Leadership Behaviours Profile, and Values at Work analysis. He is also trained in NLP, CBT, ACT, SFT, Neuro-Leadership, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and other solution-focussed and strength-based methodologies for accelerated development.
